Location Description: Michael Foods, Inc. located in Norwalk, Iowa is a southern suburb in the Des Moines, Iowa metropolitan area. We are known for knowing our neighbors and enjoying a great quality of life! Our location produces high quality precooked egg patties as well as various French Toast products.
Responsibilities:

POSITION
Summary:


This position is responsible for providing leadership for the Food Safety and Quality operations by directing quality, laboratory and sanitation department personnel. Develops and monitors plant sanitation programs to ensure a safe and wholesome product supply. Responsible for development, training and maintenance of the plant HACCP and GMP Programs for the Wakefield, NE Facility.



This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food Safety &a; Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.



DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:


  • Leads, coaches, mentors, develops, maintains, and trains department and plant staff as necessary on all necessary Food Safety and Quality programs, including all aspects of quality assurance and sanitation.
  • Gathers, analyzes, and trends quality and key performance indicators.
  • Manages incoming goods, in-process, and finished product testing programs to ensure all Food Safety and Quality specifications are met.
  • Ensures compliance to all regulatory, customer and corporate programs.
  • Leads and participates in regulatory, customer and internal audits.
  • Maintains a comprehensive knowledge of HACCP, SQF, and FSMA.
  • Maintains consistent communication and fosters teamwork between local personnel, departments, and shifts, as well as other company locations and external customers and resources. Ensures company policies and procedures are administered fairly.
  • Champions the use of Quality Improvement Tools, Lean Manufacturing and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Plans departmental budgeting, ensures cost control with emphasis on productivity.
  • Performs duties as a Subject Matter Expert on MFI Quality Systems, interpretation of policy and effective implementation at the facility level. Responsible for continuous improvement of product quality and plant quality systems.
  • Serves as the point person for all external and internal quality-related issues.
  • Provides leadership to help ensure a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adheres to all safety policies and procedures and incorporates safety and health in all jobs and tasks.
  • Adheres to Quality work practices, follows GMP's, maintains sanitary conditions and ensures that product quality is maintained. Reports to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE REQUIRED:


  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science or related field. Equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be considered in lieu.
  • At least 5 years of supervisory or managerial experience in a food plant, manufacturing environment, to include quality systems responsibilities. Experience leading, motivating and developing teams and succession planning.


PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:


  • Excellent English communication; verbal, written and presentation skills. Bilingual in Spanish a plus. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and in group situations. Ability to respond to questions from internal/external customers/vendors at all levels including management.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Effective computer skills in MS Office Suite.
  • Experience or knowledge of all applicable food industry related quality systems.
  • Experience and ability to develop and motivate salaried and hourly personnel.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Able to work extended hours, off-shift or weekends when required

Salary: $20 per hourEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
